Using Microsoft Security Essentials with eDIY
Speed issues when saving web pages in the eDIY Website Builder with Microsoft Security Essentials installed on your Windows PC
Microsoft Security Essentials is an excellent free anti-virus software provided by Microsoft that protects your computer from viruses and network based attacks. Unfortunately it can cause slow down problems when saving web pages in eDIY as well as other software such as Filezilla.
While we have not found out why this occurs, there is a simple workaround that can stop the problem from occurring and make editing your website much faster.
Instructions to fix the issue
Please follow these steps to prevent MSE from slowing down saving web pages the eDIY Website Builder.
- Right-click the green MSE icon in your clock tray at the bottom right of the screen.
- Select 'Open'
- Click on the 'Settings' tab in the MSE window.
- Select 'Excluded Processes' and click 'Browse'
- Navigate to 'C:\Program Files\eDIY' and select the 'Intercomm.exe' file.
- Click 'Save Changes'
- You may need to restart your computer if saving pages is still slow, but then it should work much faster than before.
